CSI Q & A with RedSun Hortitech Managing Director Mark Hassenkamp

  1. Q: You describe RSH as being ‘people centric’ – can you expand on that?

Our business depends entirely on people – our staff and our customers. To us, people connection is at the core of our business. RedSun’s trees are a product of our customers expectations and our people’s ability to meet these expectations of quality and value.  We strive to build unique relationships of trust and open communication amongst ourselves and between RedSun and our clients.

  1. Q: Why is RedSun’s commitment to the wider community so important to the company?

We believe we share common business and social interests with the communities within which we work and live. People have the same fears and aspirations and RedSun strives towards the greater good where a “a rising tide lifts all boats”.  Our values of integrity, unity, respect, vision, courage are relevant to the social and business society around us.

  1. Q: How is RSH changing the local community?

We begin with ensuring the dignity and well-being of our staff to build a sense of ownership and pride in what we do and how we do it, extending this through active participation in skills and capacity creation. We strive to be a successful business within a stable community. We try to contribute to the greater good and to reciprocate the efforts that others commit to our community. We connect with sponsorship or revenue sharing opportunities at schools, social and sporting clubs and events, welfare groups offering skills development and promoting relevant opportunities to engage and bring people together across our broader community. The nature of our business drives this focus to predominantly agricultural pursuits, to grow skills and interest in the crops and farms we serve, encouraging succession and skills through new entrants to our business.
